BLUF:
China is continuing to expand its overseas military presence, with the construction of a naval base in Cambodia. The base, funded by Beijing, is expected to host Chinese forces and marks China's first overseas installation in the Indo-Pacific. The country has also conducted joint maritime exercises with the Cambodian navy.
These developments have raised concerns among some observers that China is seeking to strengthen its hand in any future territorial disputes in the region, potentially putting pressure on neighboring countries to align more closely with the US and other regional powers.
In response, the US has increased its military support to allies in the region, forming partnerships and boosting its military presence.
